MOSH MUSIC IS ON HER WAY TO THE ADELAIDE CUP

By Graham Potter | Saturday, February 27, 2021

The Archie Alexander trained Mosh Music produced a race winning finish in the Listed Roy Higgins Quality at Flemington.

In the process the lightly raced, six-year-old daughter of Moshe took her career record to nine wins from only seventeen starts.

Mark Zahra, back from suspension, did the honours in the saddle, replacing Mosh Music’s regular pilot Jordan Childs who is out injured. He rode the horse to perfection, and he was quick to credit Mosh Music for yet another solid effort.

“To be honest, it was the ugly duckling story,” said Alexander. “She came in a weak, backward filly and we’ve just taken out time with her. I’d be lying if I said she hasn’t surprised us. Who would have thought she would have gone to the heights she has.

“We were disappointed after Moonee Valley (where Mosh Music finished unplaced in her last start) but she raced in three shoes and she got galloped … so we just moved on.

“When we saw the nominations for this race it didn’t look overly strong. This wasn’t actually our plan … we were supposed to go straight to the Adelaide Cup, but we took a little diversion and we’ll be going to the Adelaide Cup now.

“The deal today was if Mark (Zahra) won on her, he would stay on her for the Adelaide Cup.

‘I don’t think the 3200m there will be a problem. She relaxes so well.”

Mark Zahra added his view.

“What a beautiful mare to ride,” said Zahra. “She was no dramas at all from the minute I got on her back.

‘She was quite and did everything I wanted her to do … an absolute pleasure.

“She was so relaxed the whole way but when I needed her to quicken, she did. When the horses were going to challenge her at about the furlong she was strong again … and she was strong through the line … so taking on the Adelaide Cup … why not!”
