WINNO'S WINNERS: EAGLE FARM, MARCH 6, 2021

By Darren Winningham | Friday, March 5, 2021

EAGLE FARM RACES – SATURDAY 6 MARCH 2021

Eagle farm this weekend. The track rated “GOOD” and the rail is 1.0 metres out for the entire circuit.

NB: As these selections were made prior to race-day please check for any changes to track conditions and for any scratchings on the day.

Race 1

The two-year-old runners kick off the program.

Les Ross Racing has Mishani Delight (1) who steps up to 1300 metres after winning here two starts ago over 1200 metres. Look for an improved performance. Look for Orman to lead on this runner and set the tempo and try and steal the race.

The Stifmeister (3), trained by Stuart Kendrick, was super on debut here when he stormed home late just to miss over 1200 metres. Michael Rodd retains the ride and if the front runners do not have any advantages here, he looks the obvious winner of the first race.

Hinged (4) has won both her starts and is trained by the astute Michael Nolan Racing stables. She has run some nice times in both of her runs – maybe she can appreciate the Eagle Farm circuit and post a win.

Selections:

3 – The Stifmeister
1 – Mishani Delight
4 – Hinged
5 – Yangari

Race 2

The first leg of the Early Quaddie is over 2406 metres - only a small field to go around.

I think it is between the top two here. Romankash (2) led all the way last start with Larry Cassidy aboard and he stole the race and reigned supreme. Looks like he will get similar circumstances this weekend.

Humbolt Current (1) comes from the Chris Waller Racing team off recent runs in Victoria and comes back to Queensland. He is now having his fifth run this preparation and he has posted a win at this track previously. Luke Dittman has a good record on him. Look for him to sit handy just off the speed and hopefully run them down late.

Advance Warning (4) looks the only other runner that could upset these two.

Selections:

1 – Humbolt Current
2 – Romankash
4 – Advance Warning
5 – Meteor Light

Race 3

A sprint over 1000 metres. A tough race this.

Leadership Spill (1) resumed at Doomben with a wonderful win. On that occasion the Gollan Racing runner was heavily supported and got the chocolates. He has performed well at Eagle Farm in the past and has a strong second up record. Ryan Maloney retains the ride.

Genzai The Wolf (5) stormed home late last start and just missed. Justin Huxtable goes back aboard this runner this weekend and I think he looks well placed in this small field.

Go Deep (8) is trained by Darryl Hansen and I think dropping him back to 1000 metres will improve his chances. He likes to lead and in his past two starts over longer distances has been a sitting duck late. He has some others that should truck along in front this weekend – I just wonder whether Jake Bayliss will decide to sit off them and make a run late with the lighter weight here this weekend.

Snitzari (11) from the Kris Lees Racing stables was heavily backed last start and, to be fair, I thought was disappointing. Jim Byrne goes aboard this weekend and being down in the weights may assist her.

Selections:

1 – Leadership Spill
5 – Genzai The Wolf
8 – Go Deep
11 – Snitzari
Rough chance – (10) Azzareach

Race 4

Another small field here over 1400 metres.

Enterprise Prince (5), trained by Michael Lakey, has been knocking on the door to grab a win this preparation. I think the engagement of apprentice Kate Cowan and her 3-kilogram allowance gets him in well against these other runners..

She Za Boss (6), from the Edmonds Racing yards, has been heavily backed since the markets went up early in the week. She is third up this preparation and in both of her starts from a spell she has run on late and just missed. Robbie Fradd retains the ride.

Goodonya Sonja (1), trained by Lindsay Gough, won at a massive price in her last start when ridden to perfection by Jimmy Orman. This weekend the stable has gone for the claim with the increased weight and have put Justin Huxtable on her. He has won on her previously – she will not lose anything with him aboard.

Seeingisbelieving (3) is first up for Gollan Racing. He has won a recent trial and has Michael Rodd aboard – keep your eye on any markets moves for this runner. He normally races well fresh and could cause a serious upset.
Selections:

5 – Enterprise Prince
6 – She Za Boss
1 – Goodonya Sonja
3 – Seeingisbelieving

Race 5

A race over 1805 metres here. Looks a tough race on paper with most of these looking at this longer distance for the first time.

Bold Executive (1) led all the way last start at the Gold Coast over the distance in maiden company. Ryan Wiggins retains the ride for trainer Garnett Taylor. This runner looks progressive – but I just have some concerns stepping up in grade, Eagle Farm and then Saturday class in town. Maybe I will be proved wrong here, but I just think he will need to improve in lengths to win this race. In saying all that – if there is a leader’s bias on the track this weekend – he looks well placed.

Stuart Kendrick trains Cosmic Gossip (1) and Sheriden Tomlinson’s three-kilogram claim will be vital to him here. This runner likes to settle off the pace and wind up late and storm home. Tomlinson will be able to ride for luck or pull him wide to finish off strongly.

The interesting runner is Delayed Launch (2) for mine. He is trained by Ken Jones and Michael Rodd takes the ride. This runner has been working through the grades nicely and has posted wins in both of his last two outings. He is looking for a hat trick of wins on this Eagle Farm circuit.

Selections:

1 – Cosmic Gossip
5 – Bold Executive
2 – Delayed Launch
6 – Seeingisbelieving

Race 6

First leg of the Quaddie.

A No Metro Win race – these races normally see something heavily supported on the day so keep your eye on the market as the race gets closer.

I have much respect here for the Mark Currie trained Tesarc (4) who will be ridden by Bobby El-Issa. He resumed with a great win here over this distance and stepped up to 1400 metres a fortnight ago. My suggestion is to forget this run over 1400 metres and go on the solid win over 1200 metres. I think now he is third up I think he is a great chance here.

Flying Crackerjack (5) resumed here a fortnight ago from a 13-week spell and stormed home over 1000 metres. This weekend he steps up to 1200 metres and looks well placed. He is drawn perfectly and has a tremendous second up record – a nice ride for Ben Thompson.

Only Wanna Sing (2) has won his past two at Rockhampton and Townsville. He comes to town with some solid form and is trained by Jared Wehlow and Ashley Butler makes the trip south to Brisbane to ride him. He will be the leader here and be in the race for a long way. I just think he may set the race up nicely for one of my other two selections.

Selections:

4 – Tesarc
5 – Flying Crackerjak
2 – Only Wanna Sing
3 – Royal Hale

Race 7

Over the 1805 metres here for the first leg of the treble.

Dinado (11) makes her QLD debut coming from the Michael & Richard Freedman stables in NSW. If she has travelled up well, she looks ideally placed here on the minimum with Ben Thompson to ride. She is fourth up into the preparation and will appreciated this large track and the distance. I can see her winning this race at $11. Great each way value.

Chris Anderson trains Hallowed Girl (8) who has won her past two starts and Larry Cassidy remains aboard this weekend. Just some concern stepping up in distance and her first Saturday grade race – she has won on this circuit though, so that is a bonus.

Guise (4) from the Chris Waller Racing yards will strip fitter for the last start effort at the Sunshine Coast last weekend. The quick back up makes me believe that he has done well and will be right in this race with Luke Dittman to ride.

Joymaker (5) was nailed in the shadows of the post last start here – do not leave out.

Selections:

11 – Dinado
8 – Hallowed Girl
4 – Guise
5 – Joymaker
Rough chance – (2) Couldn’t Refuse

Race 8

A few early scratchings in this race.

Chris Waller Racing is well represented here with Kubrick (2) and So Taken (10).

Kubrick (2) was heavily backed last start in Class 6 race and drops back here to Class 3 – I will give him one more chance and hopefully Luke Dittman can get him first past the post this weekend,

So Taken (10) debuts in QLD after two solid efforts in Sydney. Third up here this weekend on a firm track with Michael Rodd aboard – she ticks a few boxes.

Wren’s Day, trained by Cody Morgan, was unlucky first up when narrowly defeated. He has the tongue tie and the winkers going on this weekend and Andrew Mallyon takes the ride. He looks well placed. I just think the Waller runners may have him covered. I think he will be better for the run and will be hard to beat next start.

Rebel Salute (5) is trained by Bryan & Daniel Guy – Sheriden Tomlinson’s claim will assist this runner who has posted two wins in his past two starts.

Selections:

2 – Kubrick
6 – Wrens Day
10 – So Taken
5 – Rebel Salute

Race 9

The last race of the day over 1400 metres – with the largest field of the day!

I will go for some value here and tip the bottom one – Bold and Lucy (14) trained by Garnett Taylor and to be ridden by Bobby El-Issa. She was sent out a short-priced favourite at Gatton last start and I think she will strip fitter for that run and appreciate this larger track where she can stride more freely and wind up in the straight.

Desleigh Forster trains the favourite Georgie’s Pride (1) who has won two races here at Eagle Farm. She has always shown some ability and given a nice run by Jim Byrne I am sure will feature in the finish. I just went looking for some value in the race.

Tara Jasmine (3) is trained at Grafton by John Shelton and comes out of a recent strong race at Coffs Harbour. Prior to that run she had won on her home track when ridden by Tegan Harrison who is aboard this weekend. When Mr Shelton brings them to town they normally run well – keep safe.

Linthorpe Lad (2) and Zou Zou Kacanarkis (10) are both trained by Kevin Kemp and are massive odds – if you are looking for an upset in the last maybe one of these two could swell your wallets!

Selections:

14 – Bold and Lucy
1 – Georgie’s Pride
3 – Tara Jasmine
2 – Linthorpe Lad
Rough chances – (10) Zou Zou Kacanarkis
