BROCK RYAN SUFFERS BROKEN LEG IN TRACKWORK FALL

By Graham Potter | Tuesday, March 9, 2021

An incident at trackwork at Kembla Grange has resulted in jockey Brock Ryan suffering a broken leg which could take the rider out of action for six weeks.

Ryan was transported to Wollongong Hospital where the damage … a fractured tibia … was confirmed.

Ryan came off one of Robert and Luke Prices’ horses shortly before he was due to ride Jamaea in a trackwork gallop leading up to her participation in the Group 3 Magic Night Stakes at Rosehill on Saturday.

Ryan was due to continue his association with Jamaea in the Magic Night Stakes … he is the only rider to have partnered her in her three career starts to date … but he now has to forego the ride in the unluckiest of circumstances.

In late November last year Ryan had a fall at Canterbury which left him heavily concussed, and with an elbow injury which kept him out of action for close on two months.

Jamaea, who is on a possible Golden Slipper path, was one of Ryan’s first winners when he returned from that enforced layoff back in January.

That was in Jamaea’s Maiden win and Ryan has been with the horse ever since making his absence, giving the possibilities that lie ahead for the filly in the coming weeks, all the more unfortunate.
