'KIND BY NAME, KIND BY NATURE'

Juddmonte Farms have announced that Kind, the dam of the one and only Frankel, has died after foaling a colt by Kingman.

Kind’s racing career produced six wins and four placings from only thirteen starts.

She then took up life as a broodmare in 2006. Her maiden covering by Sadler Wells produced Bullet Train, who won the Group 3 Derby Trial, but her main claim to fame was just around the corner.

Kind was sent to Galileo for her second mating, from which she produced Frankel.

Frankel went on to seduce even the most hardened racing critic by winning fourteen races in a row for trainer Sir Henry Cecil … including ten Group 1’s … before being retired to stud undefeated.

While the Frankel result was difficult to emulate, Kind was no one hit wonder.

For her third mating, Kind went back to Galileo and produced another top-level runner in Noble Mission, who won nine races and placed eight times from twenty-one starts. His wins included three Group 1 races and six Group races in total.

Kind’s influence extends even further than that as she now has five stallion sons at stud - Frankel, Noble Mission, Bullet Train, Morpheus (by Oasis Dream), and Proconsul (Galileo).

Frankel stands at Juddmonte's Banstead Manor in England for £175,000, Noble Mission is at JBBA Shizunai Stallion Station in Japan, Bullet Train is at Woodfield Farm Stud in Ireland, Morpheus is at Haras de Toury in France, and Proconsul is at Annshoon Stud in Ireland.

Juddmonte's United Kingdom stud director Simon Mockridge commented: “To many she will rightfully always be best remembered as the dam of Frankel and Noble Mission … to us at Juddmonte she will always be Kind by name and Kind by nature."
