BACK TO BACK WINS FOR SECRET TALES AS THE SPILL THE BEANS TWO-YEAR-OLD FILLY IMPRESSES AGAIN

Now she is definitely one for the notebook!

When Secret Tales demolished her opposition in an eighteen-length romp at the Gold Coast on March 27 on a Heavy 10 track, the result caught everybody’s attention but, at the same time, everybody not convinced … some citing the quality, or suggested lack of it, of the four horses that trailed in so ignominiously behind Secret Tales that day.

Co-trainers Steven O’Dea and Matt Hoysted gave a clear hint of what they thought of the two-year-old chestnut filly though by not hesitating to take the daughter of Spill The Beans straight to town on Saturday where she lined up against some useful opposition, this time on a Good 4 track.

Kenny Boy had won on debut and followed up with a useful third place … both at Eagle Farm. Seefeld had yet to win, but had never finished further back than half a length in his two previous starts. Vella Velocita was another who had won on debut and both Collay’s Spirit and General Wolffe had wins behind their names … so this was no ‘gimme’ for Secret Tales, who was installed as the $2.30 favourite.

As things turned out though, the race turned out to be another very comfortable 1.75 length win for Secret Tales, who always seemed to be in control of exactly what jockey Stephanie Thornton wanted her to do … that was to jump well, sit just off the speed in a comfortable rhythm getting the run of the race on the rail, stay tight saving ground on the corner and let down well enough to have the race within her keeping some way before the post.

It was a thoroughly professional performance from Secret Tales who was only having her third race start here.

Kenny Boy ($4.60), who was the one Secret Tales had to run down in the straight, stayed on for second place ahead of Seefeld ($3.70) who ran on late for third.
