By Matt Moore | Thursday, April 15, 2021
Eagle Farm (Saturday): Nine races First Race 11.38am Last Race 4.36pm Track Good 4 Rail 0.5m entire circuit
NB: As these selections were made prior to race-day please check for any changes to track conditions and for any scratchings on the day.
RACE 1 OVER 1000M
No 1 Debussy No 6 Vantan Express No 2 Grey Defence No 9 Le Force The Edmonds colt has been impressive in his trials and is the half brother to a Group 2 winner.
RACE 2 OVER 1000M
No 1 Stellar Magic No 2 Illiciate Affairs No 3 Snowdrop No 4 Invinsible Tears The top weight was beaten home by a good one across the road at Doomben last start. She looks the one to beat here in a competitive race for the 2yo girls.
RACE 3 OVER THE MILE
No 4 Guise No 3 Word For Word No 6 Slow Hands No 5 Jay Jay D’ar The Waller stablemates in Guise and Word For Word should run the quinella here. Guise won her last race in this grade where she powered home well to score. She does rise 3kgs in the weights here, but should have the class to put them away again.
RACE 4 BM78 HANDICAP 2200M
No 2 Joymaker No 9 Bold Executive No 1 Stardome No 5 Kimpembe Joymaker has been in some serious form recording a win and 3 placings from her last 4 starts. She won here 2 starts back in a BM80 by 3 lengths then a 3kg penalty in the weights saw her ran third in her last start. Alex Patis jumps aboard the Kelly Schweida mare with a 3kg claim. She’ll hit this race with 55.5kg on her back.
RACE 5 OVER 1400M AT LISTED LEVEL
No 6 Gotta Kiss No 4 Wolf Moon No 1 Apache Chase No 3 The Cullinan We’re only 2 weeks away from the start of the Winter Carnival and FINALLY we have some Black Type racing in Brisbane … albeit with only a field of 6 runners here. I’m with the O’Dea and Hoysted filly in Gotta Kiss. She’s a class act and loves Eagle Farm where she’s finished in the quinella from 5 of her 6 runs. Throw in her second up record which is good form. Watch for Steph Thornton to power her home.
RACE 6 CLASS 3 PLATE OVER 1200M
No 10 Euro Belle No 9 Contemptuous No 4 Dr Why Not No 2 All To Do It’s a tough one to kick off the quaddie but I’ll settle with Euro Belle. This mare’s form lines read well where she finished third to Jadentom who ran secondto Racecourse Road last week. She’s also has form around Xanthus and Chaivargo.
RACE 7 OPEN HANDICAP OVER 1400M
No 5 Junction No 6 Epic Girl No 2 So You Win No 4 Love You Lucy Michael Rodd should win here with the 6yo gelding dropping 3kg from his last start. His form last prep is around Ballistic Boy and Emerald Kingdom so he no doubt should be too classy for these.
RACE TAB ASCOT HANDICAP OVER 1000M AT LISTED LEVEL
No 8 Le Palmier No 1 Vega One No 5 Kylease No 2 Master Jamie Le Palmier was impressive when resuming this campaign, beating home Kylease by a neck. He loves this 1000m distance. Kylease gets a massive swing from that run of 4kgs. Vega One was impressive in a trial at Doomben on Tuesday. The big weight is the query albeit it’s only a 1000m.
RACE 9 HANDICAP OVER 1400M
No 13 The Dark No 12 Sally Pops No 6 Bonaparte No 3 Axe The Dark draws perfectly here from Gate 6 and has placed in his last 3 runs. He ran second to a good one in Alpendurada last start and is set to make it 3 career wins from 19 starts. ______________________________________________________________________
