DOOM OCT 24 - ALL THE WAY WIN FOR FASLIYEV DANCER
By Graham Potter | Tuesday, October 27, 2009
Doomben, October 24, 2009. Track - Good 3. Rail - True. 1MW Handicap - 1350m. Time: 1-19.13. 1 Fasliyev Dancer; 2 Woorim; 3 Thorondo.
Followers of the Trevor Bailey trained Fasliyev Dancer never had an anxious moment here as the five-year-old mare had the legs to stretch out her field early and the commitment to see her effort through to the line to complete an end to end victory.
Jockey Stathi Katsidis drove Fasilyev Dancer out from the break. She went straight to the lead where she proceeded to dictate events to her advantage. She had a two-and-a-half length lead turning for home and, although the hard-chasing Woorim and Thorondo got that margin down to just half-a-length at the line, they were always going to run out of time to reel in the front-runner as the perfectly rated Falsiyev Dancer stayed on to claim a solid success.
WINNER FEEDBACK: Jockey Stathi Katsidis: “The instructions they gave me were, lead and don’t stuff about. I thought ... they are good instructions. I can follow them.
“I was able to get a soft enough lead and just let her roll from the 600m. She probably got a bit tired the last bit, but I was just sort of instructed to try and get a winning break coming to the corner and it worked.”
PRICE FLUCTUATIONS: Winner (Fasliyev Dancer): 5.50 out to 6.00 in to 5.00 Favourite (Leapfrog): 3.40 out to 3.50 in to 3.30. Finished fifth.
STEWARDS REPORT EXTRACT: Thorondo (M. Cahill) was tightened for room on jumping away between Leeapfrog (L. Rolls) and Scuderia (C. McIver), both of which shifted ground. Scuderia laid in throughout the race. Woorim (L. Cassidy) was forced to race three wide without cover throughout the race.
Stewards sought an explanation from J. Taylor, rider of Eddie Rapido, in respect of his apparent failure to take a run to the inside of Albert Cadabra (G. Colless), which appeared available to him leaving the 150m. J. Taylor stated at this stage of the race Eddie Rapido was only making ground slowly and as it was a tight run to the inside of Albert Cadabra, he did not feel that Eddie Rapido was travelling well enough to take advantage of a tight run. J. Taylor added that he was also concerned Albert Cadabra may shift in and therefore angled to the outside in order to obtain clear running.
After considering the evidence, stewards advised J. Taylor that, in their opinion, he had erred by failing to attempt a run to the inside of Albert Cadabra near the 150m. He was also cautioned for shifting out when not sufficiently clear, causing Scuderia to be steadied approaching the 100m.
