YANKEE ROSE - A SUCCESS STORY BOTH ON THE RACETRACK AND AT STUD

Yankee Rose, who raced ten times for four wins in Australia for trainer David Vandyke before being sold to Japan, has made headlines again as a broodmare with her foal, a colt by Lord Kanaloa, selling for $4.49 million in Japan.
This was a full $1.75 million more than the already significant entry into her record at stud in 2019 when $2.74 million was paid for the filly Yankee Rose produced, by Deep Impact.
Yankee Rose was no stranger to being associated with seven figure sums of money on the racetrack as well, where she earned over $2 million in prize-money, with a large proportion of that coming from the two million dollar races she won (the Group 1 Inglis Sires and the Group 1 Champion Stakes) … as well the fruits of claiming a second place behind Capitalist in the Golden Slipper and a third place behind Winx and Hartnell in the 2016 Cox Plate … making her an absolute success story both on the racetrack and at stud.
Not bad for a horse that originally cost $10 000 when purchased by Darby Racing.
