HUGH BOWMAN AND JAMES MCDONALD'S POSSIBLE COVID-19 PROTOCOL BREACH CASE REOPENED
By Graham Potter | Tuesday, July 13, 2021
A review by Queensland Police of High Bowman and James McDonald’s recent activities in Queensland with regard to any possible breach on Covid-10 protocols had a sequel yesterday when Racing NSW’s Chief Steward Marc Van Gestel confirmed that the investigation into the case will be reopened.
Both Bowman and McDonald were initially cleared of any wrongdoing after a video emerged of the presence of the two riders at a raucous cane toad racing get-together at Port Douglas where they were both holidaying at the time, but the latest, new statement released by Queensland Police to racing stewards has prompted a removal of the ‘case closed’ sign.
Stewards will firstly determine whether there is good cause to further interview the two jockeys … or not … and the future of the matter will rest on that decision.
Bowman, who last rode at Canterbury on June 23, is currently still on holiday … while McDonald, who also took a break after that June 23 meeting, resumed riding in Sydney last Saturday.
