EAGLE FARM TRACK BACK UNDER SCRUTINY

By Graham Potter | Thursday, July 22, 2021

The serious expressions on the faces of trainers as they filed into a private meeting at Eagle Farm after the last race on Wednesday told its own story.

While it was a closed meeting, the fact that Eagle Farm’s offering for Wednesday’s midweek, metropolitan meeting was a mere six races with only forty-seven runners with the rail out a full twelve metres, arguably gave the best hint at the time of what subject matter was on the table.

When quizzed this morning on the matter, Cameron Partington, State Executive of the Queensland Branch of the Australian Trainers Association, did confirm that a meeting to update the association’s members on a relevant current situation did take place (again, it is believed that the discussion points were focused on the Eagle Farm track), but he respectfully declined to get into any specifics saying he would prefer to not make a comment until proposed further upcoming meetings with Racing Queensland and the Brisbane Racing Club had progressed.

Yesterday’s special trainers meeting came six months after a crisis meeting was called over the then Eagle Farm track situation back in January, a crisis meeting which, in itself, came on the back of years of unfortunate turbulence surrounding the Eagle Farm track situation.

It seems the Eagle Farm track story is not over!
