SEARS STABLE LOOKING FORWARD TO WEETWOOD DAY

Looking forward to Toowoomba’s showcase race-day … the Tony and Maddysen Sears training partnership have Tycoon Ace heading for the Weetwood … a race the stable has won before back in 2016 with Choice Bro … and they have pencilled in Red Wave for the Guineas.
“We gave Tycoon Ace a run last Sunday,” said Tony Sears. “We wanted to give him that run.
“I know he is getting a bit long in the tooth now, but he ran enormous on Sunday. A couple of years ago he raced three wide in the Weetwood and just got beat. He knows the track and I always keep him pretty fresh for that.
“He’ll be retired after this year, but he deserves one more shot at it.
“Red Wave has come close in his last two starts, but we think he will be a better horse at Toowoomba where he knows the track well, particularly compared to a lot of the others he will face.
“We do not have anything in the Toowoomba Cup, but we do have a couple of two-year-olds we are preparing for the Pat O’Shea Plate.
“I won The Weetwood with Choice Bro,” continued Sears. “We ran first and third that year.
“I should have won it with Pearl Of Creation He just got beat … and I have had a lot of places in the race. “It is a terribly hard race to win.”
No argument there … and that is why the Weetwood race-day is a big deal for the City of Toowoomba and winning a feature race on Weetwood race-day is so satisfying for trainer in the racing fraternity who goes home with a winner.
