WINNO'S WINNERS: EAGLE FARM, OCTOBER 9, 2021

By Darren Winningham | Thursday, October 7, 2021

Eagle Farm this weekend where the track is rated “good” and the rail is out 1.5 metres for the entire circuit.

Last weekend was a big weekend for the followers of my tips! Hit the $26K Quaddie, the Treble at $7K and the last winner - $41 in some markets on Saturday.

A big thanks to the messages – I hope I can back it up this weekend – I would hate to think “It’s All Talk” this weekend!

NB: As these selections were made prior to race-day please check for any changes to track conditions and for any scratchings on the day.

Race 1

Small dynamic field to start the day.

Zingalong (4) resumes here for Trevor Miller with Michael Cahill to ride. He has had two solid trials in preparation for this start. In his last prep he was beaten narrowly in the Listed Mick Dittman Plate and that is sound form for a Class 3 race this weekend.

Shamaton (3) is second up here for Gollan Racing with the stable fresh off a winning treble last weekend. He was good first up and, with solid speed in the race, he will be storming home. Ryan Maloney continues to have a strong association with this stable and this runner should be respected.

Sharryn Livingstone has been training Iolite (1) who I saw win his first ever race at Kilcoy. I think he is a nice type. He won first up for the stable at the Sunshine Coast – he will jump and probably lead them. Jimmy Orman has ridden him for all three career starts are remains on him this weekend. Maybe this weekend Sharryn can claim her first Saturday winning result!

Head On Up (8) is second up here for the Freedman Racing team after a solid effort first up – cannot be overlooked.

Selections:

4 – Zingalong
3 – Shamaton
1 – Iolite
8 – Head On Up

Race 2

The first leg of the Early Quaddie is over 1000 metres - the boy’s leg of the two-year-old’s contests.

I like the Steven O’Dea and Matthew Hoysted trained Palazzo Spirit (3) to be ridden by Baylee Nothdurft on debut here. Recent barrier trial winner in good time, he looks like it has plenty of potential.

Bryan & Daniel Guy – what can I say – they just keep being beaten by an eyelash every time they bring a runner to town! They must be due for a change of fortune! Golden Artie (1) has had a trial on the Gold Coast where he looked the goods. Ryan Maloney booked – wait for the photo finish – “heads up heads down” from Josh Fleming – a dead heat! At least it is a win boys!

Les Ross trains Mishani Warfare (2) who debuted in the Pat O’Shea and a ran a solid second. Good enough form for this race and he has that experience under his belt.

Roll Up (9) is on debut for Kelly Schweida racing – maybe can go well here.

Selections:

3 – Palazzo Spirit
1 – Golden Artie
2 – Mishani Warfare
9 – Roll Up

Race 3

The girl’s leg of the two-year-old’s – also over 1000m.

Let’s look at irony of it and think that two female trainers will fight out the race!

Exo Lady (1), trained by Desleigh Forster and who won her only trial in good time, makes her race debut here with Jim Byrne in the saddle.

Then we have the Gold Coast’s first lady – Helen Page bringing two to town for their first starts – Racing Page (4) and Hattusa (11). These two have been trialling well with the pick of the two probable Racing Page (4) who won her trial and will have Stephanie Thornton aboard for the race debut here.

Les Ross Racing could spoil the party with his runners Spanish Angels (5) and Mishani Jewel (2). These two fillies have both won recent trials and have had a few weeks off to get ready since. Spanish Angels (5) has Taylor Marshall to ride, and he continues to boot home winners each week – this looks a nice chance for him here.

Selections:

1 – Exo Lady
5 – Spanish Angels
4 – Racing Page
2 – Mishani Jewel
Rough chance – Hattusa (11)

Race 4

The race has seven initial acceptors – hopefully all of them will face the starter.

Looks like a battle supreme between the two Steven O’Dea and Matthew Hoysted trained runners.

I like Stellar Magic (4) to get the chocolates here over the stable mate Fetch (5). Baylee Nothdurft has ridden the filly in two recent trials, and she looks well primed here for a first up killing.

Fetch (6) has been trialling well too. Jaden Lloyd will ride – his 3 kilograms could prove vital late If there are any chinks in the Stellar Magic (4) preparation.

Glorious Ruby (3) is on the quick back up from last weekend. A solid weight relief for Kyle Wilson Taylor’s three kilogram claim as well could see her put her best foot forward again this weekend after a very good performance last Saturday.

Selections:

4 – Stellar Magic
6 – Fetch
3 – Glorious Ruby
7 – Win Burn

Race 5

Another nice race here – over 1805 metres.

Rob Heathcote racing has two good chances here in Deep Sceiva (2) and Aswaat (7).

I have put Aswaat (7) om top here as I think she will be better suited back at Eagle Farm. Taylor Marshall is another reason – he will get the best out of this mare late. I think if you are prepared to put a line through the run at the Gold Coast last time out – she got too far back - and go on her previous win here you will not go wrong.

The stable mate Deep Sceiva (2) won well last time out in Toowoomba over the mile. Leah Kilner just keeps punching home winners and she remains aboard here. Deep Sceiva will appreciate the extra distance – I am just concerned with the weight she must carry this weekend.

Youngblood (4) is a Gollan Racing runner who stormed home over the top of them late at Toowoomba over 1850 metres. Fourth up he could go on with it and win again – jockey change this weekend – Jimmy Orman will ride.

Southern Stock (10) is a Chris Munce runner who won his maiden by seven lengths here at this track and distance last time out. Sure, he goes up in grade – but down in weights - and Larry Cassidy will ride. If he produces that effort this weekend, he will be in the finish.

Siennas Choice (9) is a Kelly Schweida runner who has posted three consecutive wins. Each time she has had Jim Byrne aboard. They combine again this weekend looking for four wins in a row. Winning form is good form – do not overlook this runner!

Selections:

7 – Aswaat
10 – Southern Stock
4 – Youngblood
2 – Deep Sceiva
Rough chance – (9) Siennas Choice

Race 6

First leg of the Quaddie.

I like some value here with the Robert Heathcote trained Alpendurada (5) to cause an upset to the more favoured runners. This gelding does go well second up and interestingly Heathcote has put Ryan Maloney on board this weekend – I think this is a good pointer for this six-year-old gelding’s chances. There is $8 on offer this weekend – I think something each way should see you get a result.

Enterprise Keren (6) is trained by Michael Lakey and has Jaden Lloyd on top. This mare thrives at this distance and has won at Eagle Farm. I think that her first up effort behind Miami Fleiss over 1300 metres at the Gold Coast was exceptional. Three weeks between runs and second up where she has never been out of a place – I think she is a great chance too to upset the more favoured runners.

Mister Larrabee (10) is third up here for the Stuart Kendrick stable – Larry Cassidy to ride. Steps up to 1400 metres for the first time, but his win last time out on his home track at the Sunshine Coast would suggest that he is going to be competitive here this weekend – just too short for me in the markets.

The Dark (11) is the “dark horse” of the race. He is trained on the Gold Coast by Scott Morrisey and Mark Du Plessis will ride him again. If he ever turns up and puts his mind on it – he will destroy this lot. He is around $25 in markets and we could see the bookies cheering if he can post a win. Good value for your Quaddies as well!

Selections:

5 – Alpendurada
6 – Enterprise Keren
10 – Mister Larrabee
11 – The Dark
Rough chance – (7) Jack The Lad

Race 7

First leg of the treble. A high-quality field assembled.

Well, what can you say about the win of Apache Chase (2) in the Weetwood for Desleigh Forster. It was striking, dominant and it looked like he has come back ready to fire more rounds this preparation. Jim Byrne to ride. I know the stable has bigger plans for him this preparation – even a trip to Sydney. I would think he needs to win this race to be any chance of heading there and taking on the big boys.

John Moore trains Samurai (8) with Mark Du Plessis to ride. A small gear change last time out on the Gold Coast, with the winkers coming off and the blinkers going on, saw him get the job done in dominant fashion. He has a tremendous record on this track – look out for him to test this favourite late and possibly cause an upset in a race where the script appears to be written. Again $21 is overs for me – a rough result can occur at Eagle Farm can occur!

Emerald Kingdom (1) has won a recent trial and looked in good fettle. Leah Kilner rides for her boss Robert Heathcote. He has won 4 starts out of 9 on this course – do not overlook.

The Tony Gollan pair Snitch (5) and Vinco (7) both have been racing consistently and either could cause an upset as well. It is an open race outside of the favourite – they will all be attempting to lower his colours on Saturday, so it maybe wise to play wide in your exotics and multiples.

Selections:

2 – Apache Chase
8 – Samurai
1 – Emerald Kingdom
5 – Snitch
Rough chance – (7) Vinco

Race 8 XXXX QLD CUP (Listed)

The feature race over 2406 metres – sponsored by XXXX – there will be plenty of their product enjoyed on track Saturday with a hot day forecast.

Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott train Navy Cross (3) who smashed the field last time out at the Gold Coast in what was a very dominant performance. He led all the way and Michael Cahill controlled the speed in front to give nothing else a chance. He will get across early from barrier 13 this weekend – I expect to him take up the running and lead all the way. He may be a sitting duck late but on paper looks the one to beat.

I have been on Honorable Spirit (2) in both of his last two runs. He won in dominant fashion two starts ago at Doomben and then went to the Toowoomba Cup and was gallant in defeat when beaten by Wapiti. Both times he was ridden to (almost) perfection by Jaden Lloyd who retains the ride this weekend. It is the first time he takes a look at the 2406 metres – I just think the way he settles and turns off in his races he could be strong at the end and challenge the favourite late.

Top Order (4) is trained by Kim Anderson and will be ridden by Taylor Marshall. Marshall rode him to two consecutive wins here over 2200 metres. He then went to the Gold Coast and got too far back – had to carry some weight, but still made ground late. This race could be his grand final and he will appreciate the bigger track and will certainly love the extra 200 metres.

Fu Ni (8) from the Kris Lees Racing team with Larry Cassidy riding could seriously be a good rough chance if you think that these more favoured runners are suspect at 2406 metres. Cassidy is a master at rating stayers and getting the best out of them.

Selections:

3 – Navy Cross
2 – Honorable Spirit
4 – Top Order
8 – Fu Ni
Rough chance – (7) Tides Of Jupiter

Race 9

The last race of the day is over 1200 metres.

Tony Gollan has Ingear (9) going around here. She was superb first up here a month ago. She will be ridden by Stephanie Thornton – just have some concerns with her second up record where she has never won. This race is here to be won to be fair and it is hard to see her being beaten.

Full Nelson (1), trained by Brian Smith, will be right in this. Finished a gallant second at the Gold Coast last start to Samurai (Race 7 number 8). Now if Samurai slays them in Race 7 – this horse could come out in the last and frank the form. They have gone for a claim with Marnu Potgieter – three kilogram claim getting him in nicely at the weights, but dropping back to 1200 metres may be a drama. That being said, in his win two starts ago he was strong at the end of 1200 metres at Doomben holding off the late charge – the form out of that race has proved to be very strong.

Safado (5) is a Kris Lees runner who resumes here – two solid barrier trials in NSW would suggest he will be ready to go well here. Does have a solid first up record and Andrew Mallyon is aboard (didn’t he run second in the last race last weekend)?

Guntantes (3) resumes here as well and normally comes to hand very quickly. Does love this track – a recent barrier trial win – Leah Kilner aboard - must be respected.

Selections:

9 – Ingear
1 – Full Nelson
5 – Safado
3 – Guntantes
Rough chance – (8) Boom Spender

WINNO V FLEMO

WINNO got FLEMO last weekend in the last race! We managed 4 winners between us – some at some good prices. Let’s hope we can keep up the good form this weekend. Be sure to check the up to date and amended tips each Saturday morning on Facebook after any track changes and scratchings where I will post our selections and any late mail!

It might be worth your while to read this weekend’s edition of Winno’s Winners.

Last week the HRO tipster was on fire coming up with a winning Quaddie selection which returned $26 783 for an outlay of $144 … as well as a winning treble selection which brought in a further $7 527 for an outlay of $36.

That gave a return of $34 310 for an outlay of $180 over these two exotic bets … and, oh yes, there was also the no small matter of Winno’s last race top selection, It’s All Talk, who won at a starting price of $26 with even longer odds available earlier in the betting.

Winno has given himself a tough act to follow, but can you really afford not to see what he is selecting this week?
