SINGLE DIZIRE JUST KEEPS ON WINNING
By Graham Potter | Saturday, October 23, 2021
Single Dizire cleared the next hurdle put in front of her with some aplomb when taking out a QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap over 1200m at Doomben on October 23.
The win came on the back of her successive wins at Ipswich (in a Maiden and then in a Class 1 contest) … and this first win in town added to her reputation as being a horse on the move.
Easy to back at $6, Single Dezire wasted little time in showing her intention to lead from pillar to post, under the guidance of Ryan Maloney this time, and the top jockey rated the chestnut daughter of Not A Single Doubt to absolute perfection.
Maloney has Single Dizire loping along at a comfortable gallop at the head of affairs from the break and the filly brought the field into the home straight with the favourite Rayjen ($3.50) and invisible Tears ($5), who had both tracked Single Dezire, some two lengths back, for most of the trip, still in close attendance.
When Maloney asked Single Dizire for more both Rayjen and Invisible Tears were immediately under pressure and, inside the final 200m it was clear that neither of those horses were going well enough to reel in Single Dizire, who was now in full cry for the line.
Putontheredlight ($4.40), coming from last down the inside, did make good ground over the closing stages to provide a momentary threat to Single Dizire, but it was a case of too little too late for Putontheredlight as the Sears trained runner kicked on well to arguably, score a little easier than the official 0.30 length margin suggests.
That’s three wins for six starts now for Single Dizire which is a tremendous strike-rate. $85 400 in the bank in state-earnings after only six months of racing is not too shabby either.

Between Single Dizire’s second and third wins on October 15 and October 23, the Sears training partnership sent out seven runners for three second placings and one third place finish.
Dark Son (who was first-up after an eight month break), Imadgic (who now has two second place results from only four career starts) and Illicit Affairs (who has now finished in the first two places in four out of her seven starts) were the horses who claimed runner-up finishes while Piracy came up with a third place.
