PROMETHEUS FINISHES THIRD IN THE MOOLOOLABA CUP

On Saturday November 20, the Sears training partnership sent out six runners across three venues and came away with a second place and three third place results.

Dark Son claimed the second place at the Gold Coast in a BM65 Handicap over 900m, going down by 1.50 lengths to the useful Far Too Easy who was winning for the third time in only four starts. Dark Son has now finished runner-up in both of his starts since resuming after an eight month layoff.

Prometheus finished third at the featured, metropolitan meeting at the Sunshine Coast in the Mooloolaba Cup over 1600m. It was a great effort by Prometheus, unwanted in the betting at $26, to get with one-and-a-half and one length of the winner Wapiti ($5.50) and Ligulate ($2.50) respectively, the races two main fancies.

Prometheus has only finished out of the first three places once in his last three starts … an eight-year-old who clearly still thrives on the competition.

The two other third place results, which came at Toowoomba, were supplied by Imadgic and Mojo Baby. Imadgic has yet to put a win on the board but this third place, in a Maiden Plate over 1300m, was her fourth placing in seven career starts.

Mojo Baby does have a win behind her name. She won on debut and, since saluting, she has been a model of consistency registering three seconds and two thirds over her next five starts, meaning she has yet to finish out of the money.

The daughter of Domesday achieved this when stepping up in distance in each and every one of her starts … from 1000m to 1200m to 1300m to 1350m to 1625m to 1880m … a run which underlines her versatility.
