BACK TO BACK RACE WINS FOR MOSES AND QUINNELL
By Graham Potter | Saturday, May 16, 2009
Trainer Kevin Moses and jockey Jamie Quinnell scored a quick race-to-race double a Canterbury, taking home the chocolates with Deltona (race 4) and Mine In Time (race 5).
Deltona set the tempo up front, but he was tracked every inch of the way by Carnegie House who box-seated behind the leader in the sweep to the turn. The latter made an early move, switching around Deltona’s heels immediately on straightening to be set alight in an earnest chase for the honours.
Carnegie House almost got up right alongside Deltona, but Quinnell urged his mount on and the gelding kept finding under pressure, to the extent that it was Carnegie House who finally cried enough to be beaten back into second placing. The trainer / jockey combination had an easier time of it when landing their second winner.
Mine In Time sat alongside the leader (Geared Up) and then had the fire-power to win as he liked in the run home.
The three-year-old gelding, who was racing second-up here, has yet to run a bad race and this result took his race record to two wins and three minor placings from his five starts.
