DAZZLING FLASH STRIKES AT TOOWOOMBA

The Red Dazzler filly Dazzling Flash made no mistake when landing her first career victory in a Three=Year-Old Handicap over 1000m at Toowoomba on February 5.
The winning margin of two lengths aptly summed up Dazzling Flash’s superiority on the day.
Racing second-up, Dazzling Flash, who was being ridden for the first time by apprentice Angela Jones, jumped well and settled in a prominent third place on the back of a good pace early, just a length behind the two duelling leaders up front.
Another horse went around Dazzling Flash at the start of the sweep to the home turn, but Jones remained patient, biding her time before angling out coming to the turn, cornering four wide, but right in contention, with a clear run to the line.
Jones had to get quite vigorous in the saddle early in the straight, but once Dazzling Flash extended it was basically ‘race over’ as the Sears trained runner quickly asserted her authority to the degree that Jones was able to just give her a quiet hands and heels ride over the closing stages.
Dazzling Flash had placed twice in there starts in her first preparation … both over 1000m. She then resumed on January 12 after a four month break from race action. On that occasion she was taken straight to town where she finished unplaced, but only 2.50 length behind Royal Rebellion over 1200m.
With the benefit of that run, back on her home track and back to arguably her preferred distance, Dazzling Flash duly got the job done to put a big tick in the winner’s box and take her record to one win and two places from five starts.
