SANZERA WINS FOR THE SECOND TIME IN THREE STARTS

Sanzera made it two wins from three starts when she took out a Class 2 Handicap over 1400m on the Poly Track at the Sunshine Coast on March 4.
The three-year-old filly had kicked off her career in style back on December 21 when putting her Maiden victory to bed over 1200m. She then reappeared after a two month break and finished fourth in a Class 1 Handicap over 1100m.
With that extra race experience in the bank, Sanzera ($4.40) came into this race after a month freshen up and stepped up in distance quite markedly to the 1400m trip.
The daughter of Proisir, who only got into the race as an emergency acceptor, was quick to make her presence felt, striding to the front in confident fashion from the jump with the flow of her distinctive white socks showing how well she had settled into a comfortable rhythm as she set the target up front.
After stretching the field out a little bit early on, apprentice Zac Lloyd gave Sanzera a slight breather in the middle of the sweep to the home turn, allowing the field to close up, but, once in the straight, it was all business for Sanzera.
It took Sanzera until the 200m mark to finally shake off Bohemian Boom ($17), who had been snapping at her heels for much of the race, and, with Lloyd now asking more from his mount, Sanzero sustained a strong run to the line which turned into a winning performance.
Elegant Drover ($8) was the only runner to emerge out of the pack with any real meaning. He arrived with some momentum and looked a possible threat coming through the 150m, but Sanzera was going too well to be denied and, in the end, the final 1.80 length margin of victory aptly summed up the superiority Sanzera had shown over her rivals on the day.
