SCST NOV 15 - SKY TRAVELLER FLIES HOME

By Graham Potter | Wednesday, November 18, 2009

Sunshine Coast, November 15, 2009
Track - Good 3. Rail - True.
Class 1 Handicap - 1400m. Time: 1-24.94.
1 Sky Traveller; 2 Check The Chips; 3 County Raider.

Trainer Gillian Heinrich had a good weekend. Heinrich landed a double at Eagle Farm on Saturday (with Dance The Waves and Left Standing). She had a winner at the Gold Coast (Falls Creek) on the same day and she scored another double at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday to end up with five winners over the two days.

Jockey Jason Holder, who rode Left Standing at Eagle Farm, again did the honours in the saddle when piloting Sky Traveller, the first of the Heinrich Coloundra winners.

Sky Traveller had won his previous start over 1400m at the Gold Coast when racing second-up following a four month spell. That was a narrow victory where the winning margin was only a nose. The stable had no such anxious moments this around as Holder sent the three-year-old to the front inside the final 180m and the gelding when on to score a by a comfortable 1.50 length margin.

This was Sky Traveller’s second win from only six starts.

PRICE FLUCTUATIONS:
Winner (Sky Traveller): 3.50 out to 3.80 in to 3.70.
The winner was the favourite.

STEWARDS REPORT EXTRACT:
Upi Bay (M. Hellyer) and Branch Stacker (A. Merritt) jumped away awkwardly.

Hamatym (K. Pope) laid out making the 800m turn. Passing the 400m, Sky Traveller (J. Holder) shifted out to improve and made contact with Hamatym (K. Pope), which had been inclined to lay out. Sky Blond (C. Priest) was inclined to lay in under pressure in the run to the finish.

Following the disappointing performance of Le Jeduma, trainer B. Guy reported that he would recommend to connections that the horse be spelled.
