CONGLOMERATE SCORES AGAIN
By Graham Potter | Saturday, April 9, 2022
Remember Conglomerate. He was the horse that set off manic celebrations when he won first time out at Ipswich out for the Tony and Maddysen Sears stable after transferring from the Peter and Paul Snowden yard.
Well, at Toowoomba on April 9, Conglomerate once again kept his owners very happy with a facile win in a Class 2 Plate over 1000m … stepping up from the 800m of her previous assignment …making it two wins from two starts for the Sears team.
Second favourite at $2.70, Alex Patis jumped Conglomerate into an immediate lead where the son of Written Tycoon maintained a strong gallop to open up a lead of close to three lengths going down the back straight.
You could make that advantage four lengths in the sweep to the turn, and just over five lengths on straightening, a tempo which proved too hot for his opposition who finished well and truly strung out behind the Sears winner who went to the line with 1.80 lengths to spare on his nearest rival, the $1.65 favourite Writtle.
