AMERICAN RED TWO FROM TWO THIS PREPARATION

The Michael Nolan trained American Red made it back-to-back wins and remained unbeaten this preparation when he took out a Class 2 Handicap over 1000m at Toowoomba on May 7.
The three-year-old son of Red Dazzler had strolled home by a very comfortable 3.30 length margin when winning a QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap over the 800m dash at Dalby on April 23, and this second win came via a similar clearcut margin of three lengths, with American Red showing the kind of positive, natural progression which highlights the promise being shown by the lightly raced gelding.
American Red has now won two of his three starts after finishing as runner-up on debut back on September 30, 2021.
As was the case at Dalby Monty Savva again took the reins for American Red’s latest effort. Savva had a bit of work to do early when chasing American Red (the $3.40 favourite) up onto the speed from a wide draw, and she did that well enough to be able to lead momentarily, before being happy to take a trail in a close up second spot when American Red’s market rival Turboart ($4.20) wanted to take up the running.
These two runners then went together in the sweep to the home turn in a stirring early battle for supremacy and, immediately on straightening, that battle was won convincingly by American Red who charged away, streaking all of his rivals even more easily than the final winning margin of three lengths might suggest.
It’s very early days of course but, at this stage at least, the trajectory of American Red’s form graph is very encouraging.
*Michael Nolan had two runners in the race. Keepmoving Forward, American Red’s stable companion finished third, as did Michael Nolan’s only other runner on the day Princess Bojack, who earned her third place in a Class 4 Handicap at Ipswich over 1100m.
