THE EGYPTIAN IMPRESSES AS CORNISH MAKES THE TRIP TO TOWNSVILLE WORTHWHILE

Travelling to North Queensland to take rides where they can is a regular beat for both established jockeys looking to make a living and young apprentices looking to gain experience … and Jasmine Cornish turned that into a successful trip when she piloted the Clinton Taylor trained The Egyptian to a comfortable victory in an Open Handicap over 1000m at Townsville on May 6 … a day after she had won a race at Gatton.
The five-year-old son of The Factor completed a track and distance hat trick of wins here.
While he won his two previous starts by under a length, The Egyptian was more dominant this time … underlining why he was at the short odds of $1.80 … striding away in the home straight to win by a widening 2.50 length margin.
Cornish jumped the favourite smartly from the gates and The Egyptian quickly raced to the lead … a position he was never in any danger of relinquishing.
A couple of rivals did try to annoy The Egyptian in the early part, but Cornish was completely unfazed by them and she kept The Egyptian rolling along in comfortable fashion, riding like he was the best horse in the race … which he was by far.
That’s eleven wins and twelve places from twenty-six starts fir The Egyptian now … with a super confident ride by Cornish playing its part in helping to extend The Egyptian’s current, impressive winning sequence.
