SADLY, A SECOND SERIOUS FALL IN AS MANY DAYS
By Graham Potter | Monday, July 4, 2022
A second race fall in as many days in New South Wales occurred at Gunnedah today with apprentice Elissa Meredith coming down in the fifth race.
After a period of careful treatment and assessment at the track, Meredith was airlifted to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital following the fall, having reportedly suffered head injuries.
As a consequence, the last two races on the Gunnedah card (races six and seven) were abandoned.
The fall comes on the back of a tragic incident involving Leah Kilner at Grafton on Sunday.
Kilner currently is in an induced coma after undergoing surgery on Sunday night to relieve pressure on her brain.
Prayers for a full recovery for both riders.
