Get set for a grandstand finish!

You couldn’t really have scripted this at the start of the season, but Joao Moreira’s double at Happy Valley earlier this week has seen him draw level with Zac Purton on 132 winners apiece at the top of the Hong Kong Jockey’s ladder with … would you believe … just one meeting to go with the season’s end coming at Sha Tin on Saturday.

A further level of prestige will also be up for grabs on Saturday as Moreira and Purton have both won four Hong Kong Jockey Championship each in their time, and for either of them to edge ahead of their great rival in that chase for distinction will provide the victor with a double celebration.

Eleven races have been carded at Sha Tin for the season finale with Purton having a full book of rides while Moreira has ten rides, only missing out on race four.

It should make riveting viewing.
