WATERHOUSE / BOTT LOOKING FOR A SENTIMENTAL WIN IN THE ROSEBUD

Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott will be looking to mark the sixth anniversary of their training partnership with a sentimental win in the Listed Rosebud at Rosehill on Saturday.
The Rosebud was the race that gave the Waterhouse and Bott team their first Metropolitan winner in Sydney and there is even more symmetry surrounding their attempt to win the race again on Saturday due to the fact that their runner, Kibou, comes into the race with a race record of two wins from three starts … exactly the same record that Waterhouse and Bott’s first winner Thronum brought to the table when he lined up for the 2016 edition of The Rosebud.
From that beginning, the training partnership has never looked back.
Newscorp reports that in their six years together Waterhouse and Bott have trained 880 winners including 16 at Group 1 level and another 100 stakes winners for stable earnings of more than $65m.
Kibou, who will be ridden by Regan Bayliss, is currently the $3.20 favourite for Saturday’s feature race, topping the betting boards ahead of Sebonack (Team Hawkes – Tommy Berry), who has been marked up at $4.80, and Spacewalk (James Cumming - James McDonald) and Zoukerino (John O’Shea – Brenton Avdulla) who are both on offer at $5.
