DETTORI KEEPS THE RIDE ON VERRY ELLEEGANT

Frankie Dettori will keep the ride on Verry Elleegant when last year’s Melbourne Cup winner goes out in search of her seventeenth career victory at Longchamp on September 11, in what will be her second start in Europe.
As reported by thoroughbredracing.com.au, co-owner Brae Sokolski has confirmed the race date, but said it has yet to be decided which race on the card Verry Elleegant will run in. The choice lies between the Group 1 Prix Vermaille or the Group 2 Prix Foy.
“He (Dettori) rang to say he wanted to stay with the mare, so that’s a good sign,” Sokolski told thoroughbredracing. “He saw a lot of merit in the performance and (trainer) Francis (Graffard) seems very positive about the way she’s been going since.”
No plans have been set beyond Verry Elleegant’s assignment on September 11, but depending on how she performs, a crack at the prestigious Group 1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe on October 1 is still very much on the table.
