GYPSY GODDESS BACK IN WORK

Gypsy Goddess, the Group 1 Queensland Oaks winner is back in work, and she will follow a carefully measured path to the $10 million Golden Eagle which will take place at Randwick on October 29.
“She is back in work,” confirmed trainer David Vandyke, “and she will trial on September 20.
“She will head for the Golden Eagle … first-up, for her one and only run this time in. That has always been the plan, and nothing has changed.”
The Golden Eagle will therefore be Gypsy Goddess’ first run as a four-year-old, and she will take a very proud record of six wins (including that Group 1 success) and three places from only nine starts into her new campaign … as well as the title of Champion Three-Year-Old Filly for 2021/22 season, which she received at the Australian Racehorse Of The Year awards evening held recently.
“Yes, that was a nice surprise,” said Vandyke when congratulated on Gypsy Goddess’s success in that category.
“It was a very good field of three-year-old fillies … you know, the likes of Fangirl who had won at Group 1,2,3 and listed level … so I had my doubts about whether we could win it … but it was lovely to receive the award.”
