CHINNY BOOM - A NAME FOR THE NOTEBOOK
By Graham Potter | Tuesday, October 4, 2022
Mark down the name, Chinny Boom.
The three-year-old Spirit Of Boom filly’s run at Rockhampton on Tuesday produced an outstanding set of statistics which only served to underline what trainer Clinton Taylor already knew … namely that he has a serious racehorse on his hands.
Chinny Boom remains unbeaten … that’s four wins from four starts now.
Chinny Boom’s combined winning margin over those four starts is 19.75 lengths.
Chinny Boom latest win was achieved by an 8.25 length winning margin … her biggest yet.
Chinny Boom set a new track record for the 1050m trip, stopping the clock in 58.90 seconds, smashing the previous record of 59.37 seconds in no uncertain terms.
Chinny Boom lowered that record, which had stood for closing on eight years, on a track rated as ‘soft.’ The previous record had been achieved on ‘good’ going.
Chinny Boom time for the last 600m was an amazing 32.24 seconds.
… but, for all of that, perhaps the most telling point of the exercise is that, even with all of the achievements listed above, Chinny Boom was never asked to extend herself in the running in any shape or form by jockey Ashley Butler.
She was cruising along at speed to be sure … and leaving her hard-pressed opposition well and truly spread out behind her … BUT she did so without ever getting into anything close to top gear.
That makes those statistics all the more remarkable.
Chinny Boom, as can be expected, has already been the subject of offers to purchase and expressions of interest from bloodstock agents … but owner Mark Pascoe has put the ‘Not For Sale’ sign firmly in place.
Chinny Boom will be off to Brisbane for her next assignment.
Stay with the name.
It is a story worth following.
