DELANEY'S GIRL AND PRITI PIPER SCORE FOR KROPP RACING AT TARA

By Graham Potter | Saturday, October 1, 2022

On October 1, while Vast Kama was doing the stable proud with a third place finish in town behind Gemelon Bolt and Fletch at Eagle Farm … coming home less than 1.50 lengths behind the winner … Kropp Racing took five horses to the country meeting at Tara and they got two winners there in the form of the Matt Kropp trained four-year-old mare Delaney’s Girl, who took the honours in a BM55 Handicap over 1400m, and the William Kropp trained Priti Piper, who saluted in a Class B Handicap over 1200m.

Dealaney’s Girl, a daughter of Drumbeats jumped as the $2.50 favourite with the 3kg claimer Sarah Robbins in the irons, having come into the race on the back of an eye-catching run at the Sunshine Coast over the same distance where, although she was unplaced in fifth spot, she was only 1.50 lengths behind the winner at the line, a result which hinted at some promise to come.

That credit was quickly cashed in by Delaney’s Girl although it was such a tight finish her followers wouldn’t want it over again … and that after she had been bumped and crowded soon after the start, so it was no easy watch.

This was Delaney Girl’s second career win. She had previously shed her Maiden ticket at Warwick over 1200m.

Priti Piper was having her first start for owner / trainer William Kropp after a two-and-a-half month break from race action.

Apprentice Sarah Robbins took 3kg off Priti Piper’s allotted weight of 56kg which was a very beneficial advantage over the concluding stages which saw Priti Piper get home with a half-a-length to spare.

For the record, from the five runners William Kropp has saddled so far this season he boasts a very heathy return of two winners (I Promise You and Priti Piper), two second places and one third place.

Other Tara results for the Kropp stable on the day included a third place from Coyne’s Road and a fourth place finish from Salazar which ended the winning run of the Deep Field mare who had won her previous three starts in a row.
