HOW GOOD WAS THIS WIN BY MATRIARCH ROSE !!!

It had taken three trials stretching over a period from November 16, 2021 to September 20, 2022 to get the three-year-old bay filly Matriarch Rose to the point was trainer David Vandyke was prepared to give her the green light to go racing and, as has been proved so many times before, the trainer’s judgement proved to be spot on as the daughter of Epaulette won well on debut.
That win came on October 6 at Ipswich over 1350m in a QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap … and what an amazing win it was!
Matriarch Rose, easy to back at $6.50, raced well back early … all of ten lengths off the lead … and, although she made up some ground in the sweep to the home turn, travelling four wide, she was still all of six lengths back on straightening and the fact that she was inclined to hang in early in the straight didn’t seem to be helping her cause … but nobody could have foreseen what was about to unfold.
At the 200m mark Matriarch Rose began to unleash an amazing level of acceleration which saw her turn that six length deficit into a 0.20 length victory.
Even more impressive was the fact that the leaders were not stopping … but there was also just no stopping the Vandyke trained runner who could not have been more impressive on debut.
