YELLOW BRICK UNDERLINES HIS POTENTIAL

After the glitter and glamour of Weetwood Day, it was back to the nitty-gritty for the Sears stable and they were quick to put their next winner on the board in the form of the very promising Yellow Brick, who made it two wins from only three starts when taking out a BM65 Handicap over 1200m at the Sunshine Coast on September 28.
Yellow Brick had won on debut on a heavy 9 surface at Ipswich on May 22 before finishing third behind Plundering, also on a heavy surface at the Gold Coast on September 17.
At the Sunshine Coast Yellow Brick encountered a track rated as good for the first time and he showed he had the capacity to handle any surface … which is always a huge plus for the trainer to work with moving forward.
Ben Thompson took Yellow Brick to an immediate lead, getting their easily enough, and he then proceeded to dictate the speed of the race to his own advantage.
It was only early in the home straight that Thompson asked Yellow Brick to stretch out and it quickly became apparent that the Sears trained runner was going too well for his opposition, who were left chasing for the minor placings.
In the end it all translated to a pretty painless victory by a clearcut 1.30 length margin.
