SIGNIFICANT MOVEMENT IN RQ'S CORRIDORS OF POWER

There has been plenty of significant movement within the corridors of power at Racing Queensland in recent times.

First it was the resignation of Chief Steward Peter Chadwick who, in theory, suddenly left overnight … although the racing grapevine had already correctly predicted that call … which caused an immediate reshuffle in the stewards’ ranks … and that has now been followed by the news that the Brendan Parnell has resigned his position of CEO at Racing Queensland.

The Racing Queensland media release concerning Parnell states, ‘Racing Queensland will commence a new era from next year following the resignation of Brendan Parnell as Chief Executive Officer … Mr Parnell will conclude his tenure in Autumn next year.’

Whether this shift will indeed bring winds of change as arguably suggested by the words ‘a new era’… and what direction they may take … will only be known once those positions have been filled and the new team have had time to settle in … but, for now, it has been confirmed that, ‘RQ will commence advertising for a new CEO prior to the end of the calendar year,’ while it is believed that the deadline for applications for the Chief Steward’s position has been extended.
