YELLOW BRICK'S ROAD TO SUCCESS CONTINUES

If there was any question about the Tony and Maddysen Sears training partnership having a new stable star on their hands, those doubts were laid to rest in no uncertain fashion when Yellow Brick made it four wins from only five starts when taking out a QTIS Three-year-Old Handicap over 1600m at Eagle Farm on October 29.
This win was Yellow Brick’s second successive Metropolitan win and it also completed a hat trick of wins for the quality son of The Mission.
Underlying his potential is that fact that Yellow Brick’s four wins have seen him claim success over a progressive range of race distances … from 1100m to 1200m to 1400m to 1600m … taking every new challenge in his stride as well as showing he can handle any going having won on both good and heavy racing surfaces.
Another plus was that Yellow Brick’s winning margin of 2.25 lengths in his latest win was his biggest margin of victory yet … suggesting that he is getting better and better.
Basically, Yellow Brick started a $2.70 favourite and won like any good favourite should.
With apprentice Angela Jones in the saddle for the first time (with her 2kg claim), Yellow Brick bounced into an immediate lead at the jump and proceeded to stretch out her opposition going down the back stretch where there was all of twelve lengths from first to last.
Jones continued to rate Yellow Brick superbly throughout the sweep to the home turn.
Just how good a job she was doing was revealed at the top of the straight where a number of horses were snapping at Yellow Brick’s heels looking to apply maximum pressure on the long-time leader … but Yellow Brick remained strong, soaking up the pressure and taming the opposition with a resolute gallop all of the way to the line, leaving his rivals behind to sort out the minor placings.
Five starts, four wins (the hiccup was a third placing) and already a massive $220 850 banked in prize-money.
At this stage, his connections could simply not have asked for anything more.
