MV JAN 22 - MOODY COMMENTS ON HIS RISING STAR - 2

Trainer Peter Moody (speaking directly after Black Caviar’s win in the Group 2 Australia Stakes at Moonee Valley): “I’m very happy. It’s always a big relief to see them return, you know. We thought she was going terrific, but until you get them back on track you are never sort of one hundred percent sure are you?
“He is no mug the second horse (Here De Angels). He is a good, old handicapper. Just knowing how much improvement she’s got in her and coming back from that injury, you know, it was always ... I just wanted to see her come back and enjoy her racing.
“The exciting thing is the level of improvement in her. You just know that such a big race filly like her has got to improve. The next thing is getting to the stable at four in the morning and watching her walk out, because obviously she has had that soft tissue issue in her chest.
“All credit to the staff, you know. They have worked tirelessly on her and they have done a great job to get her here and hopefully we can keep her in the same shape.
“She is just so brilliant and that brings about these issues with these muscles. She has just got such acceleration and does everything in such a robust manner ... and being such a big horse, she makes herself susceptible to these injuries.
“She will go to the William Reed next, but I’m not sure after that.
“There is some chance I might give her a vaccination tomorrow for Dubai for that $2.5 million race on dirt ... that might be a challenge, but we’ll first come back for the William Reed in two weeks and if she can do the same again we might start looking at options.
“As far as the Newmarket is concerned she is in it, but it hasn’t been the focus of my campaign at all this time around. We’ll run in the William Reed and be guided as to what we do off the back of that.”
