CHAMPKIN SCORES ON HE'S A DEVIL FOR TEAM SEARS

The Tony and Maddysen Sears trained He’s A Devil scored a well-deserved win when he landed the Australia Day Cup BM 60 Handicap over 1200m at Kilcoy on January 26.
in the last three months of 2022, the four-year-old son of Tycoon Ruler had raced five times ... from Tara to Toowoomba to Warwick to Kilcoy to Chinchilla ... for an ultra-consistent return of a win (at Warwick), three runner-up finishes and a third place ... so, it could be argued that another success was due.
Jumping as a $3 joint-favourite with All Stars in an open race ... Enterprise Maximus and Harryandthetiger were also very much in the market at $3,20 and $3.60 respectively ... He’s A Devil, under apprentice Sariah Champkin, had control of the race over the closing stages as he got to the line with 1.30 lengths to spare over Harryandthetiger.
This was He’s a Devil’s second win in his last four starts, suggesting, as the previously mentioned new level of consistency indicated, that there could be more to come from He’s a Devil, particularly given the careful manner in which the Sears training partnership sets about finding suitable races for the four-year-old, who still has scope for improvement.
