A RAFT OF BIG RACE OPTIONS AWAIT YELLOW BRICK

The Tony and Maddysen Sears trained stable star Yellow Brick won his trail at Doomben this morning.
There were no fireworks, just a strong workmanlike session with the son of The Mission doing all he was asked to in a satisfactory fashion, ... an effort which pleased his co-trainer Maddy Sears.
“We were really happy with him today,” said Sears. “We are stoked with him actually. He is well and truly on track.
“We thought he would have a bit of a blow ... which he did. Looking at him going out, he looked a bit pudgy.
“He was a little bit slow away, but Jimmy (Orman) just gave him a dig and he got up on the bridle ... and Jimmy said he felt like he was doing his best work late when horses came up alongside him.
“He’ll have another jump-out and most likely an exhibition gallop ... and then we’ll be ready for the Weetwood.”
The Weetwood, Toowoomba’s signature race takes place on September 23.
There will be a change of jockey for Yellow Brick in the Weetwood with Jimmy Orman taking over from Ben Thompson, who had ridden Yellow Brick in eight of his ten career starts to date.
“Jimmy Orman is definitely riding him in the Weetwood,” said Sears. “We haven’t confirmed a rider for down south yet. We’ll make that decision after the Weetwood.
“Also after the Weetwood, I’ll be driving down to Sydney and Yellow Brick will go by transport and we will arrive down there on October 2 ... and we’ll be down there for five weeks for the Silver Eagle and then the Golden Eagle.”
The $1 million Silver Eagle takes place over 1300m at Randwick on October 14 ... The Everest day. The Golden Eagle takes place over 1500m at Rosehill on November 4 ... and is worth a whopping $20 million.
The Sears camp also have plenty to look forward to beyond that with the $750 000 The King Of The Mountain feature being held at the end of the year. Yellow Brick won the inaugural running of the race year which is contested over 1200m at Toowoomba.
The field of The King Of The Mountain is selected by slot-holders and the Sears camp in the pound seats in that regard,as they are the holders of two slots which they purchased last year for a three year period.
“All being well, Yellow Brick will have a couple of weeks off after his Sydney trip ... then The King Of The Mountain ... then Magic Millions Day ... then he’ll have a good rest after that.”
With the range of big race options open to Yellow Brick, it is quite understandable that his connections have resisted and firmly rejected several big-money offers to purchase the horse.
Yellow Brick boasts a career record of six wins from ten starts with $1 370 600 banked in prize-money.
Apart from his race wins, Yellow Brick also has three second placings to his credit, including a heartbreak result in the $2 million Magic Millions Two-Year-Old Classic in which many believed he was a very unlucky loser.
Not bad for $20 000 purchase!
