WINNO'S WINNERS: EAGLE FARM, SEPTEMBER 16, 2023
By Darren Winningham | Friday, September 15, 2023
EAGLE FARM this week. We have 9 races. The track is rated ‘Good’ and the rail is out 2 metres for the entire circuit. The forecast is for some warm weather on the weekend – maybe time to consider a trip to the beach on Sunday.
Time to look at the program.
NB: As these selections were made prior to race-day, please check for any changes to track conditions and for any scratchings on the day.
Race 1
Class 3 over 1600 metres.
The NSW invader looks well placed – Lolly Yeats (9). Won two starts ago at Warwick farm in a fast time and looks like it will get the job done here in the first race – Damien Thornton will ride.
Selections:
9 – Lolly Yeats 13 – Kind Wish 15 – Planned Encounter 7 – Tenzing
Race 2
BM78 over 2412 metres – a small field.
Chris Waller Racing look like they will quinella the race with two last start winners. Chernak (2) with Mark Du Plessis aboard has dominated here on this track with two wins.
The stable mate is Mighty Willie (6) to be ridden by Damien Thornton who won last time out at Doomben at a midweek meeting.
Selections:
2 – Chernak 6 – Mighty Willie 1 – Galifianakis 7 – No More Red
Race 3
BM70 over 1400 metres. A race for the girls.
Tough affair this race.
Let’s go for Chris Anderson to get a Saturday winner with Very Intoxicating (7) – he will be shouting the bar if this mare wins! Second up here with Ben Thompson riding – she was slow away when resuming – looked like she needed the run as well. Look for a bold showing here. She does have some solid form around Magic Millions 2023 earlier in the year – if she brings those efforts to the track Saturday she wins.
Selections:
7 – Very Intoxicating 8 – Sea Ripple 9 – Poetic Drama 11 – Simply Refuse Rough chance – (2) Smokin Toff
Race 4
BM70 over 1400 metres. A race for the boys.
Nearly the same numbers as the previous race – strange!
I like the speed and the times that Cusack (7) has been posting at Rockhampton in his recent wins. He is trained by Jared Wehlow and Justin Huxtable has been booked to ride.
Naval Trader (8) is trained by Steven O’Dea & Matt Hoysted. He had a good win last time out at Sunshine Coast over this distance – he has a solid record at this track as well – must be kept safe.
Selections:
7 – Cusack 8 – Naval Trader 9 – Dark Harmony 4 – Gaius
Race 5
Last leg of the Early Quaddie.
BM85 over 1810 metres.
Tough race. The Matthew Dunn Racing trained Holstein (4) was scratched from a race in NSW last Saturday – probably looks well placed here. Andrew Mallyon will ride.
Selections:
4 – Holstein 8 – Aqua Alta 1 – Fifth Position 2 – Wairere Falls
Race 6
First leg of the Quaddie – open field here over 1200 at No Metro Win grade.
Pocket Full (6) trained by Stuart Kendrick and will be ridden by Bailey Wheeler – they combined last weekend to win the feature race – maybe they can grab another win together.
Selections:
6 – Pocket Full 4 – Le Melody 12 – Uno Artie 10 – Gaius
Race 7
The first leg of the treble – a BM70 over 1000 metres.
Gollan Racing’s Venturer (10) was awesome on debut at a midweek race at the Sunshine Coast – drew wide – barrier 15 – was wide throughout in that race but was still solid to the line – at $9 I think this daughter of Capitalist could upset this lot.
Show Me Mercy (3), trained by Stuart Kendrick, gets a 3-kilogram claim for Bailey Wheeler – can they post a race to race double? He is undefeated in two starts – a three week freshen up – drawn well - will be competitive.
Caution on the first up runner Rothgo (2) who won a trial at Toowoomba recently. He is a solid sprinter and races well fresh. Trained by John Thomas and Georgina Cartwright to ride, he looks well placed – ludicrous odds that are on offer here at $21. He could throw a spanner in the works.
Selections:
10 – Venturer 3 – Show Me Mercy 2 – Rothgo 4 – Minto’s D’Oro Rough chance – (6) Borrelli
Race 8
A class 6 over the 1000 metres.
Hard To Say (3) seems to be in a purple patch of form and keeps winning for the team at Dynamic Syndications and Jason Deamer – Ashley Morgan will ride him again.
Steven O’Dea and Matt Hoysted have two solid chances in Nashira (8) and Hold On Honey (7) – both have form to suggest that they will be competitive here.
Selections:
3 – Hard To Say 8 – Nashira 7 – Hold On Honey 4 – Shamaton Rough chance (11) Maximum Output
Race 9
The last race has a massive field over 1500 metres at BM85 level.
I just love CHAOS – so I must tip the Tony Gollan trained Star Of Chaos (9) with Angela Jones riding. The mare has won her past two starts and looks well placed here.
If you are looking for a roughie to back – I would suggest The Ritz (3) from the Michael Morrison yards. This runner has a tremendous first up record. He loves Eagle Farm – Bailey Wheeler will claim 3 kilograms – there is a lot to be excited about this runner – silly odds are on offer at $15.
Selections:
9 – Star Of Chaos 11 – Viminele 3 – The Ritz 5 – Canadian Dancer Rough chances – (6) Eaglemont ________________________________________________________________________
Jockeys Challenge
Looks like a one-on-one battle with Ben Thompson and Bailey Wheeler – Thompson will get the chocolates.

WINNO V FLEMO
The battle continues with WINNO and FLEMO. WINNO got the win last weekend – however, we were in good form with FLEMO back on deck – we tipped 5 winners between us!
Be sure to check the up to date and amended tips each Saturday morning on Facebook after any track changes and scratchings where I will post our selections and any late mail!
