WINNO'S WINNERS: DOOMBEN, NOVEMBER 11, 2023
By Darren Winningham | Thursday, November 9, 2023
Saturday 11 November each year is a very important day for Australia. At 11am we stop and remember the brave souls who fought for Australia in World War 1. This is the anniversary of the Armistice that ended fighting with Germany in WW1. Please take the time to stand and respect the armed services officers who have passed fighting for our country on Saturday. We thank the past, present and future armed services personnel for their service.
DOOMBEN this week with the track rated ‘Good’. The rail is out 2 metres for the entire circuit.
NB: As these selections were made prior to race-day, please check for any changes to track conditions and for any scratchings on the day.
Race 1
The two-year old’s race over 1200 metres. A small field.
Les Ross Racing has 6 of the 9 runners!
Selections:
4 – Mishani Suspect 6 – Mishani Opal 2 – Mishani Eclipse 1 – Head Honcho
Race 2
No Metro Wins over 1050 metres – these are always tough races.
Selections:
1 – Beast Mode 5 – Queen Assassin 10 – Golblin De Quo 9 – Border Control
Race 3
The first leg of the early Quaddie with ten races on the card. BM78 over 1200 metres.
Selections:
6 – Compassionate 7 – Midnight In Tokyo 2 – Stroll 4 – My Snow King Rough chance – (9) Moreton Bay
Race 4
Class BM80 over 2000 metres.
Selections:
10 – Security Advisor 8 – I Am The Empire 2 – Red Wave 3- Fifth Position Rough chance – (5) Ostermier
Race 5
Three-year-old runners over 1200 metres.
Selections:
5 – Golden Decade 4 – Victory Win 7 – Addriel 6 – Fine Shot
Race 6
Last leg of the early Quaddie. Class 3 over 1350 metres.
Michael Rodd is back in the saddle! He rides Larrikin Rogue (4) for Chris Anderson. The gelding resumed a fortnight ago here – drew wide and had little luck on that occasion. He is undefeated second up – 2 wins from 2 starts.
Selections:
3 – Larrikin Rogue 1 – Blakmax 15 – Tojaki 4 – Pentito
Race 7
First leg of the Quaddie – BM68 here over 1200 metres.
Selections:
7 – Orient’s Secret 8 – Amore Veloci 2 – Caesaris 12 – Goomeri
Race 8 KEITH NOUD OPEN – LISTED
Listed race over 1200 metres.
I like the Rex Lipp trained Cifrado (11). He resumed 2 weeks ago and turned in a superb effort first up over the unsuitable distance of 1000 metres. Damien Thornton will ride again and with some genuine speed in the race and the extra distance I think that he represents a great each way value at around the $12 mark – he can cause an upset here.
Tony Gollan trains Zarastro (10) who has won his past three starts in impressive fashion. Has had a slight freshen up and he had a recent barrier trial where he won the trial easily. Angela Jones will ride him here. He is up in class – down in the weights – I just think with the speed on – they will be coming at him late.
The stable mate is Comrade Rosa (4) who resumes after running well over the Winter Carnival in black type races. She has a recent barrier trial where she wasn’t asked to do too much. Keep her safe for mine – I think she goes better at Eagle Farm – Ryan Malone will ride.
The Robert Heathcote Racing pair of Startantes (2) and Extremist (12) cannot be overlooked – keep safe.
Selections:
11 – Cifrado 10 – Zarastro 12 – Extremist 4 – Comrade Rosa Rough chances – (2) Startantes & (1) Holyfield & (9) Steady Ready
Race 9
Class 6 over 1600 metres
Kelly Schweida Racing has been in good form in recent weeks. Just last weekend he combined with his apprentice Cejay Graham to post a winning double on the program at Eagle Farm.
I think that they can combine here with Tyresa (11) who is second up here over a more suitable distance. When she resumed, she peaked late, and I expect that she will be fitter for that effort.
Duke Of Buckingham (7) is trained by Chris Meagher. This his third run for the new stable – a heap of gear changes, and the blinkers go on as well – Blake Spriggs will ride.
Tidal Creek (1) had a poor recovery after his last start. It was an uncustomary effort after his two wins in the lead up. He will be ready to run here – I see that the Stuart Kendrick and Bailey Wheeler combination is back in action with this runner – they have an exceptional strike rate when they combine – keep safe.
Selections:
11 – Tyresa 7 – Duke Of Buckingham 1 – Tidal Creek 10 – The Catch
Race 10
The last race! A massive field over 1350 metres at BM78 class level.
I like the last start winner Starzam (3) from the Kelly Schweida Racing yards. Can he and Cejay combine to win the last two races on the day?
Would keep their winning run going!
Keep safe the Munce Racing last start winner – Allez Zou (14). Robbie Dolan will ride again after winning at the Sunshine Coast last time out.
Selections
3 – Starzam 7 – Sha Of Gomer 10 – Hamlet Von Snitzel 14 – Allez Zou Rough chances – (15) Storm The Fortress & (2) Zuma California ________________________________________________________________________
Jockeys Challenge
Looks like a super open battle – Bailey Wheeler, Martin Harley, Damien Thornton and the girls Angela Jones and Cejay Graham – maybe something sneaky on Martin to win.
