HONG KONG ... HERE WE COME!

By Graham Potter | Friday, December 1, 2023

How quickly a year goes by.

HRO’s Winno is once again getting set to jet off to Hong Kong to cover the International Jockeys Championship at Happy Valley on Wednesday, December 6 and the Hong Kong Longines International Races at Sha Tin on December 10.

Actually, he has been getting set for months … such is his love affair with Hong Kong racing, absence clearly makes the heart grow fonder.

Rumour has it that he has also already started the countdown to next April.

It really is racing not only at its best, but all of the racing excitement is hosted by arguably the best organized racing precinct you can find.

Four Group 1’s at the Sha Tin meeting will see top quality thoroughbreds from all around the globe go at it under the guidance of the world’s top-tier riders chasing a massive, combined Group 1 prize-money total of HK118 million.

The week … Happy Valley and Sha Tin … contains the kind of extravaganza of racing that places this racing particular product amongst the hierarchy of top racing events in the world.

Both race meetings (this year or whenever) should be a ‘must add’ to any true racing enthusiast’s bucket list.

Make the plan to tick it off now. Chances are you won’t be disappointed.

Winno always travels to Hong Kong with the intent of writing more stories for HRO and taking more photographs that he did the time before.

Obviously, the better he does each year, the harder it becomes to achieve that aim … but, if chomping at the bit is anything to go by, you wouldn’t bet against him getting the job done once again.
