DAZZLING FLASH PREVAILS IN A PRESSURISED FINISH

You could certainly make the case for Dazzling Flash to come away the winner of the BM62 Handicap over 1350m at Warwick on January 15 ... and, if you did, you would have been more than happy about the $6.50 price quoted about his chances.

In his ten runs in 2023, Dazzling Flash had won once, finished second four times and finished third four times. Granted, that is not the kind a win ratio that punters are looking for ... and she also came up well short of the mark in his only previous run in 2024 (on January 1), but that was taking on 1625m for the first time.

On consistency alone, she was well worth a second glance and apprentice Tyler Leslight wasted no time in taking the race to the opposition aboard the Sears trained runner, spearing into an immediate lead and then maintaining a strong, but comfortable enough gallop, to both hold his advantage while also starting to string the field out behind him.

Coming to the home turn, Dazzling Flash was still travelling well, but she was now being seriously stalked by the $3.20 favourite Bean Rocking, who had tracked Dazzling Flash for most of the trip, and that rival looked a big danger as he moved forward to apply pressure on the Sears trained runner.

Dazzling Flash had to withstand a lot of pressure all the way down the home straight from both Bean Rocking, who would not go away, and Deelosh ($6.50) who ran on from behind to turn the race into a tough three-way contest over the final 100m.

Having done work early, Dazzling Flash had every reason to cry enough and clock up another, game placing, but this time she refused to be denied, holding on to thwart Bean Rocking and Deelosh by 0.20 lengths and 0.40 lengths respectively.
