BEAU DAZZLER HEADING BACK TO THE PADDOCK AFTER HIS KARAKA MILLION ASSIGNMENT

The Tony and Maddysen Sears trained Beau Dazzler, the only Australian based runner in the 2024 edition of the Two-Year-Old Karaka Million, might have only finished seventh in the big race, but his connections were well satisfied with the performance of the Ardrossan colt, given that he arguably had a couple of factors against him on the day.
“We are stoked with how the horse ran,” said co-trainer Maddy Sears.
“We always knew the horse was going to get back ... and it was a very tough meeting for a back-marker. It seemed to be quite a leaders-bias track. If you weren’t in the first three you didn’t have much hope ... and 1200m is really not his go, he is a 1400m to a miler.
“He’ll have a month off now at Waikato Stud. Then, two to three weeks pre-training ... and then we’ll get him ready for the (Group 1) J. J. Atkins.”
The Karaka Million was Beau Dazzler’s fourth career start. He had previously finished second, a tragedy beaten, on debut, but he then came out and set the record straight when saluting in the Listed Phelan Ready.
In his next start, on Magic Million’s day, Beau Dazzler finished second behind the more than useful Spywire, who would go on to finish third behind Storm Boy in the $2 million Magic Millions Two-year-old Classic.
