THAT WAS A 'GIRL'S DAY OUT' ALRIGHT!

It was a Girl’s Day Out themed meeting at Eagle Farm on Saturday ... and it was certainly a girl’s day out on the track alright!
A riding treble by Queensland’s leading apprentice Cejay Graham was the highlight in the riding ranks with the solid ‘Girls’ Day Out’ supporting cast of Nikita Beriman (in a dead-heat), Samantha Collett and Tahlia Fenlon all riding winners on the day ... that’s six winners on the day.
Graham got on the scoreboard early when she partnered the well fancied $2.50 favourite Hold On Honey to victory in the third race on the card ... and, later, she landed a race-to-race double when saluting on Kanazawa (like Hold on Honey, a Steven O’Dea, Matt Hoysted trained runner) and Sharp Dazzler, a Tony and Maddysen Sears trained $1.95 favourite.
While Graham did bring home the only two favourites to win on the day, the Kanawaza win came at a starting price of $10, which was just one of the results that turned it into a tough day for punters with the winners of five of the ten races getting home at double figure odds.
While Fenlon brought home a $5.50 second favourite, the Barry Lockwood trained Evocator, Collett and Beriman took no prisoners on long priced winners with Collett saluting on Miliarense, a Brian Wakefield trained $26 chance ... and Beriman pushed that price envelope even further when featuring in a dead-heat result on the Natalie McCall trained Winston Smurfhill, who jumped at a starting price of $31.
But, away from the profit/loss ledger, the real story here was the talent on display by these four winning riders in the day.
Collett and Beriman are already Group 1 winning riders and Graham and Fenlon, although in different stages of their apprenticeships, are both riders on a rapid rise and their collective presence, along with that of others, clearly serves racing well in Queensland and it was it was good to see them together all find some due reward for all of their hard work on the aptly named ‘Girl’s Day Out.’
