GOLDEELUCK WINS AS HE LIKES

The Winning Rupert gelding Goldeeluck made it three wins from his last four starts when he saluted in a BM70 Handicap over 1300m at Toowoomba on March 23.
The four-year-old had won the last two starts of his previous preparation at the Sunshine Coast (over 1400m on September 29) and at Warwick (over 1500m on October 14) before being allowed time away from racing for just over four months before resuming with an unplaced run over 1200m at the Gold Coast on March 9.
Here, two weeks after that first-up run, Goldeeluck marginally shifted the distance test up to 1300m where, supported in from $3.30 to $2.80, the Tony and Maddysen Sears trained runner started as the race favourite.
Goldeeluck was slowest out of the gates and raced just worse than midfield down the back straight as Our Free Spirit ($9.50) sped away at the front ... opening up a three length lead over the nearest runner in the chasing pack.
Nozi Tomizawa remained patient on Goldeeluck, still content to keep Goldeeluck some four lengths off the speed at the start of the sweep to the home turn, but Tomizawa then had Goldeeluck on the move, swinging four wide as Our Free Spirit, who was now coming back to a bunched field, approached the home turn.
Goldeeluck quickly reeled in all of the runners in front of him with consummate ease ... to the degree that he already swept into a comfortable lead early in the home straight.
From there, he only had to be pushed out hands and heels by Tomizawa to open up a comfortable 2.50 length winning margin at the line, which he cruised to without ever being asked to fully extend himself.
Overall, that is now four wins and six places from only thirteen starts for the relatively lightly raced four-year-old who, with this win, took his career earnings to $10 635.
