Winno is on asignment for HRO ... reporting from Hong Kong
Karis Teetan will ride the David Hayes trained and Hong Kong debutant Little Brose in the feature sprint event on the program on Sunday at Sha Tin.
The sprint has a massive purse of HK$22 million.
Little Brose will make his debut in Hong Kong at Group 1 level. He did win the Blue Diamond at Caulfield as a two-year-old and then raced at Group 3 and Group 1 level in Melbourne prior to being sent to Hong Kong.
Teetan was buoyant about his chances. “I trialled him last week and I must say when you sit in him, he gives you a really good feel.
“It is going to be a tough task first up in that category, but I believe with the Hong Kong horses it is really wide open with Lucky Sweynesse being out.
“I think if he gets a good draw and luck in the run he will go really good”
Teetan spoke about that trial at Happy Valley and said Hayes had elected to put the blinkers on Little Brose and he went very keen in the trial. He had then advised Hayes to remove the blinkers for his debut in Hong Kong and the stable agreed.
Teetan anticipates that there will be speed in the race, and he will just let Little Brose find his feet prior to letting him finish off strong.
No matter the result on Sunday this horse will add to the another element to the exciting set of sprinters that Hong Kong seems to have on racing at present.
